RoWorld Building Tier List

Seven structures, ranked by what they actually do for your match.

Last updated:

RoWorld has seven placeable structures. Each one does a specific job, and each one has a price point that tells you when the game wants you to buy it. This list grades all seven by value in a real match.

S Tier — buy these every game

Defense Post — 50,000 gold

The best value per gold in the entire game. Inside its 30-tile radius it multiplies enemy casualties and slows their advance, and the numbers are brutal: roughly five times the casualties and three times the delay. It costs less than half of a City.

Buy it the moment a human neighbour shares a border with you, not when you feel threatened. Upgrades extend the radius and improve the multipliers, climbing from 50,000 in 50,000 steps toward a 250,000 ceiling.

City — 125,000 gold

The backbone. Each City adds 25,000 to your troop cap, and your cap decides how large an army you can field. Every aggressive plan in the game is downstream of this number. Click an existing City again to upgrade it rather than placing a new one.

Factory — 125,000 gold

The income engine. Factories send trade trucks that generate gold, and their usefulness depends on proximity to your other buildings. A Factory in the middle of your City cluster is a passive gold machine; a Factory alone on a peninsula is a building that does nothing.

A Tier — strong, but map-dependent

Port — 250,000 gold

A Port must sit on a coastal tile and it unlocks three things at once: sea trade routes, amphibious boat invasions, and Warship construction. On maps with separate landmasses, a Port is the difference between a regional power and a continent-wide one.

It also makes your shoreline the most attractive invasion target on the map. If you are coastal, build the Port, then cover the shoreline with a Defense Post.

B Tier — powerful, situational, expensive

SAM Launcher — 1,500,000 gold (tier one), 3,000,000 gold (tier two)

Intercepts any Atomic or Hydrogen strike that lands inside its 70-tile dome, detonating it in mid-air. An enormous defensive asset once you are rich enough to afford it, and worthless in a match where you are under 1.5 million gold.

The limitation is coverage, not power: a 70-tile radius is a small part of a world map, and distant colonies remain exposed unless you build a second launcher.

Warship — 250,000 gold

Patrols a sea lane, sinks troop transports, fights other warships and can seize enemy trade ships. One Warship parked in a narrow strait can block an entire invasion route, which makes it disproportionately valuable on map layouts with chokepoints.

On a landlocked map it is a very expensive decoration.

C Tier — one job, rarely the right buy

Missile Silo — 1,000,000 gold

A Missile Silo unlocks the launch terminal for Atomic, Hydrogen and MIRV strikes, but the ammunition is a separate purchase on top, and every detonation permanently converts useful land into fallout that does not count toward your 80 percent.

Read the nukes and fallout guide before buying one. The honest use of a silo is deterrence: a visible arsenal discourages attacks. The rest of the time, a million gold buys you a city cluster instead.

Build order that follows this list

Defense Post the moment a neighbour appears, City first in your opening, Factory once you have two or three Cities in one cluster, Port if your map has usable coasts, and treat the SAM and the silo as late-game projects. The economy guide covers the timings, and the territory calculator turns your gold rate into a clock for each purchase.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers to the questions RoWorld players ask most.

What is the best building to buy first in RoWorld?

A City. It adds 25,000 to your troop cap, and every aggressive plan depends on how many troops you can field. Followed by a Defense Post the moment a human neighbour borders you, then a Factory inside your City cluster.

Is the Defense Post worth it in RoWorld?

Yes. At 50,000 gold it is the cheapest structure in the game and the best value per gold, multiplying enemy casualties and slowing their advance inside a 30-tile radius.

Should I buy a Port on every map?

No. A Port needs a coastal tile and only pays off when your map has separate landmasses or a coastline worth defending. On landlocked maps the gold is better spent on Cities and Factories.

What does a SAM Launcher protect in RoWorld?

Only the area inside a 70-tile dome around it. Atomic and Hydrogen strikes landing in that zone are intercepted in mid-air, but territory beyond the dome stays fully exposed.

How much does a Missile Silo cost and is it worth it?

1,000,000 gold, with ammunition bought separately. Its main value is deterrence — a visible arsenal discourages attacks — since each launch permanently creates fallout that does not count toward the 80 percent win.
